The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends

I have a fanatic complex. The emphasis being squarely on the fan. I'm a dedicator, a super-follower, a convention goer of all things I like. When I enjoy the presence of something-media, food, drugs, discussion, a particular body-I go to any lengths to experience everything I can within that brief-yet-delightful spectrum of superfandom.

This is mostly a warning. It is to tell all concerned to handle with care the very process of interacting with me, because one of those fan-inducing objects has reintroduced themselves to the Zeitgeist, and I'm straight flipping my shit over here.

I can't even. The Flaming Lips featuring a different artist on every track? The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends features the talents of Yoko Ono, Jim James, Nick Cave, Edward Sharpe, and oh shit this is just brilliant just go listen god I'm losing it.

I'm a later bloomer when it comes to the Flaming Lips. I loved them after other, much more dedicated fans loved them. But, Erykah Badu shaming aside, I think they're brilliant artists with a keen understanding of the word distinction, and they deserve to be lauded. Not just by humans, but by the gods, themselves.
